Uitleg
Het is een middelgrote vezelige schorsboom die alleen bekend is van de kustgebieden ten zuiden van Bruthen en met uitlopers ten noorden en ten oosten van Orbost, Victoria, op arme zandgrond. Deze soort is vernoemd naar James Andrew McKinty (1916-1999). James McKinty was een boswachter bij de Forestry Commission van Victoria. Hij was jarenlang districtsboswachter in Orbost. Hij verzamelde deze soort in 1947 en erkende dat de soort anders was dan andere lokale draadschors.

Botanische beschrijving
Het is een kleine tot middelgrote boom tot 30 meter hoog. De schors is ruw tot aan de kleine takken, vezelig, grijs tot roodbruin. De stengel is in doorsnede afgerond.
De jonge bladeren zijn sessiel of kort gesteeld, tegenoverstaand voor 3 tot 5 knooppunten en dan afwisselend, langwerpig tot elliptisch tot ovaal, 4,5-10,3cm lang, 3,5-9cm breed, de rand is heel tot licht onregelmatig, verkleurd, groen tot blauwgroen. De kroon is blauwgroen. De volwassen bladeren zijn afwisselend, op een bladsteel van 1,3-2,8cm lang. Het blad is breed lancetvormig tot lancetvormig tot sikkelvormig, 8,5-23cm lang, 1,7-5,5cm breed, basis schuin, aan beide oppervlakten dezelfde kleur, enigszins glanzend of dof, groen tot blauwgroen. De zijaders zijn acuut, dun tot matig netvormig, intramarginale ader evenwijdig aan en ver van de rand, olieklieren klein.
De bloeiwijze is onvertakt okselstandig, steeltjes 0,8-2,2cm lang. De knoppen staan in schermen van 7, 9 of 11, steeltjes van 0-0,5cm lang. De volwassen knoppen zijn ruitvormig tot eivormig, 0,7-0,8cm lang, 0,3-0,5cm breed, groen, glad of schilferig, met licht longitudinale hoeken, litteken afwezig, operculum kegelvormig. De meeldraden zijn onregelmatig gebogen, allemaal vruchtbaar. De helmknoppen zijn niervormig tot hartvormig, veelzijdig, aan de dorsale zijde bevestigd, openend door samenvloeiende spleten. De stijl is lang, de stempel taps toelopend, 3 of 4 locules. De bloemen zijn wit.
De vrucht is op steeltjes van 0-0,3cm lang, komvormig tot halfbolvormig of afgeknot-bolvormig, 0,5-0,7cm lang, 0,9-1,3cm breed. De schijf is vlak of iets verhoogd, 3 of 4 kleppen, bijna randniveau of licht uitgestoken. De zaden zijn donkerbruin, 1,5-3mm lang, piramidaal of schuin piramidaal, dorsaal oppervlak glad, hilum terminaal.
E. mackintii onderscheidt zich onder de vezelige schorsbomen door de blauwgroene kroon. Het verschilt van E. macrorhyncha in het hebben van een kegelvormige (niet snavelvormige) operculum en vruchten met een min of meer vlakke (niet prominent verhoogde) schijf. Zowel E. globoidea als E. agglomerata verschillen in het hebben van overvolle clusters van vruchten. E. baxteri verschilt van E. mackintii in het hebben van een groene kroon, eivormige knoppen zonder hoeken en vruchten, meestal met een oplopende schijf, maar heeft, net als E. mackintii, ruwe juveniele groei voor enkele knooppunten.

E. mackintii onderscheidt zich onder de vezelige schorsbomen door de blauwgroene kroon. De Geslacht: Eucalyptus Ondergeslacht: Eucalyptus Sectie: Capillulus Serie: Pachyphloius heeft de volgende kenmerken: Grof vezelige 'vezelige' schors, kort opkomende olieklieren versierd met duidelijk uitstralende haren op stengels en bladeren van zaailingen en juveniele groei (deze olieklieren lijken stervormig), okselbloeiwijzen met knoppen die slechts één operculum, bloemen met niervormige helmknoppen, eitjes in twee rijen en min of meer piramidale zaden met een duidelijk terminale hilum. De volwassen bladeren van alle draderige bastensoorten hebben een dun netvormig nerven.

Zaai instructies
LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 15-20°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 3-6 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
Het gemiddelde zaadgewicht is 502,5 per gram (0,00199g).
