Uitleg
Het is een boom, zelden een mallee, wijdverspreid in droge en semi-aride Australië, van het noorden van de Murray River in Zuid-Australië, zich oostwaarts uitstrekkend door centraal New South Wales tot Nyngan en zuidwaarts naar Euston, noordwaarts naar Queensland in de St. George - Dirranbandi regio en groeit in een groot gebied van centraal Australië, met name het uiterste noorden van Zuid-Australië, inclusief de Northern Flinders Ranges, en het zuidelijke Northern Territory dat zich uitstrekt tot het Giles-Warburton-gebied in West-Australië. Het epitheton van deze soort is van het Latijnse inter, tussen en textus, weefsel, verwijzend naar de verweven vezelige bast.

Botanische beschrijving
Het is een boom tot 20m hoog. Zelden een mallee. Het vormt een lignotuber. De schors is ruw aan de onderstam, zelden over de hele stam, dik, vezelig, vaak box-type, grijs tot roodbruin. Boven glad, overwegend wit met grijze of bruine vlekken die in vlokken afvallen. De twijgen zijn soms poederachtig. Ze hebben geen olieklieren in de kern. De stengels zijn rond of vierkant in dwarsdoorsnede, meestal glad, soms poederachtig.
De jonge bladeren zijn altijd gesteeld, tegenoverstaand voor 2 tot 7 paar dan afwisselend, lancetvormig, 3-12cm lang, 1-3,5cm breed, basis taps toelopend, dof, grijsgroen tot blauwgroen of poederachtig. De volwassen bladeren zijn afwisselend, bladsteel 0,5-1,5cm lang. Het blad is lancetvormig, 5-16cm lang, 0,8-2,5cm breed, de basis loopt taps toe naar de bladsteel, aan beide oppervlakten dezelfde kleur, dof, blauwgroen of grijsgroen, zijnerven onder een scherpe of grotere hoek naar de hoofdnerf, dicht netvormig, intramarginale ader evenwijdig aan en net binnen de rand of op afstand daarvan (soms afwezig), olieklieren aanwezig of onduidelijk.
De bloeiwijze is eindstandig samengesteld, of soms ook met een paar okselstandige schermen, steeltjes van 0,5-1,7cm lang. Er zijn 7 knoppen per bloemscherm, steeltjes 0,2-0,8cm lang. De volwassen knoppen zijn omgekeerd eirond tot eivormig, 0,4-0,8cm lang, 0,2-0,4cm breed, groen of soms grijsgroen, bloembeker met vage ribben van het hoekige steeltje, litteken aanwezig (buitenste operculum vroeg verloren in knop ontwikkeling), operculum conisch. De meeldraden zijn naar binnen verbogen of onregelmatig gebogen, helmknoppenhalf veelzijdig, aan de basis bevestigd, kubusvormig, openend door longitudinale spleten. De stijl is lang, de stempel is stomp. De bloemen zijn wit.
De vrucht is gesteeld (steeltjes 0,1-0,8cm lang), bekervormig tot halfbolvormig, 0,3-0,9cm lang, 0,4-0,8cm breed, soms licht geribbeld in de lengterichting, schijf aflopend, 4 of 5 kleppen, ingesloten. De zaden zijn bruin, 1-1,7mm lang, eivormig of afgeplat-eivormig, dorsaal oppervlak gepit, hilum ventraal.
In Queensland kan hij worden verward met de nauw verwante soort E. orgadophila. E. intertexta verschilt marginaal door het hebben van iets kleinere vruchten en lancetvormige juveniele bladeren (juveniele bladeren meestal ovaal in E. orgadophila). E. intertexta groeit niet op de uiterwaarden van zware kleigronden waar E. microtheca (alleen Noord-Australië), E. coolabah en E. largiflorens de meest voorkomende box-soorten zijn. E. intertexta kan verder worden gescheiden van E. coolabah door grotere vruchten met gesloten kleppen te hebben (sterk uitgestoken in E. coolabah). E. largiflorens heeft een ruwe bast die zich uitstrekt tot kleine takken.
De jonge bladeren zijn altijd gesteeld, tegenoverstaand voor 2 tot 7 paar dan afwisselend, lancetvormig, 3-12cm lang, 1-3,5cm breed, basis taps toelopend, dof, grijsgroen tot blauwgroen of poederachtig. De volwassen bladeren zijn afwisselend, bladsteel 0,5-1,5cm lang. Het blad is lancetvormig, 5-16cm lang, 0,8-2,5cm breed, de basis loopt taps toe naar de bladsteel, aan beide oppervlakten dezelfde kleur, dof, blauwgroen of grijsgroen, zijnerven onder een scherpe of grotere hoek naar de hoofdnerf, dicht netvormig, intramarginale ader evenwijdig aan en net binnen de rand of op afstand daarvan (soms afwezig), olieklieren aanwezig of onduidelijk.

De Geslacht: Eucalyptus Ondergeslacht: Symphyomyrtus Sectie: Adnataria Ondersectie: Apicales Serie: Buxeales Onderserie: Amissae heeft de volgende kenmerken: De knoppen twee opercula hebben, de eitjes zijn in vier rijen, de zaden zijn afgeplat-eivormig, de zaadlobben zijn min of meer reniform en de helmknoppen zijn stijf op de meeldraden. Binnen sectie Adnataria maakt Eucalyptus intertexta deel uit van een subgroep, serie Buxeales, verder onderscheiden door gedeeltelijk ruw geblaf, met terminale bloeiwijzen en knoppen die het buitenste operculum vroegtijdig verliezen.
Nuttige plant
Het rode hout is hard en duurzaam, maar bijna niet te splijten. Het is handig voor hekpalen. Het is zeer sierlijk, met witte takken en een kroon van zilverblauw blad.

Zaai instructies
LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 18-22°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 2-4 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
Het gemiddelde zaadgewicht is 395,3 per gram (0,00253g).
