Het is een mallee die endemisch is in West-Australië, beperkt tot het Mt Day-gebied tussen Hyden en Norseman. Het epitheton van deze soort is van het Latijnse inceratus, wat bedekt met was betekent.

Botanische beschrijving
Het is een mallee tot 5 meter hoog. Het vormt een lignotuber. De schors is overal glad, licht grijsbruin over oranje. De twijgen zijn bedekt met een wasachtig laagje. De olieklieren zijn aanwezig in de kern.
Jonge bladeren zijn niet waargenomen. De volwassen bladeren zijn dik, afwisselend, bladstelen van 0,5-1,7cm lang. Het blad is lancetvormig, 5-10,5cm lang, 1-3,2cm breed, de basis loopt taps toe naar de bladsteel, de rand is heel, de top is puntig, aan beide oppervlakten dezelfde kleur, aanvankelijk bedekt met een wasachtig laagje, maar wordt later glanzend, groen, het oppervlak lijkt "geglazuurd". De zijaders zijn acuut of onduidelijk, netvorming niet zichtbaar, intramarginale ader aanwezig of onduidelijk, olieklieren aanwezig.
De bloeiwijze is onvertakt okselstandig, hangend, steeltjes afgeplat, 1,5-3,5cm lang. Er zijn 7 knoppen per bloemscherm, gesteeld (stelen 0,7-1,2cm lang). De volwassen knoppen zijn langwerpig, 2,2-3,5cm lang, 0,6-0,9cm breed (asymmetrisch spilvormig), wasachtig, litteken aanwezig (buitenste operculum wordt vroeg afgeworpen), operculum stomp hoornvormig, ongeveer 2-2,5 keer de lengte van de bloembeker. De meeldraden zijn rechtopstaand, helmknoppen langwerpig, veelzijdig, aan de rug bevestigd, openspringend door longitudinale spleten. De stijl is lang en recht, de stempel afgerond, 4 locules. De bloemen zijn geel.
De vrucht is naar beneden gericht, gesteeld (steeltjes 0,6-0,9cm lang), stevig tonvormig tot komvormig, 1-1,5cm lang, 0,9-1,8cm breed, schijf aflopend, 4 kleppen, vastgehouden aan de rand. De zaden zijn donkerbruin, 0,7-2mm lang, eivormig tot afgeplat-eivormig, dorsaal oppervlak ondiep netvormig, hilum ventraal.
E. incerata verschilt van E. eremophila doordat het een lignotuber heeft, d.w.z. het is een mallee, geen mallet, en door sterk poederachtige vertakkingen, knoppen en vruchten, en door zijn beperkte verspreiding. De niet-poederachtige E. eremophila komt voor ten oosten van de zuidelijke tarwegordel en is de enige soort in de groep die zich uitbreidt tot in woestijngebieden. Twee mallee-soorten, de niet-poederachtige E. tenera en de enigszins wasachtige E. tephroclada, hebben zeer vergelijkbare slanke knoppen en vruchten die over het algemeen kleiner zijn dan die van de typische E. eremophila en E. incerata. Het enige verschil tussen E. tenera, dat wijdverbreid is in de zuidelijke en centrale tarwegordel, en E. tephroclada, meer beperkt tot het Hyden-Southern Cross-gebied, is de aanwezigheid van witte was op twijgen, knoppen en vruchten van de laatste.
Jonge bladeren zijn niet waargenomen. De volwassen bladeren zijn dik, afwisselend, bladstelen van 0,5-1,7cm lang. Het blad is lancetvormig, 5-10,5cm lang, 1-3,2cm breed, de basis loopt taps toe naar de bladsteel, de rand is heel, de top is puntig, aan beide oppervlakten dezelfde kleur, aanvankelijk bedekt met een wasachtig laagje, maar wordt later glanzend, groen, het oppervlak lijkt "geglazuurd". De zijaders zijn acuut of onduidelijk, netvorming niet zichtbaar, intramarginale ader aanwezig of onduidelijk, olieklieren aanwezig.
De bloeiwijze is onvertakt okselstandig, hangend, steeltjes afgeplat, 1,5-3,5cm lang. Er zijn 7 knoppen per bloemscherm, gesteeld (stelen 0,7-1,2cm lang). De volwassen knoppen zijn langwerpig, 2,2-3,5cm lang, 0,6-0,9cm breed (asymmetrisch spilvormig), wasachtig, litteken aanwezig (buitenste operculum wordt vroeg afgeworpen), operculum stomp hoornvormig, ongeveer 2-2,5 keer de lengte van de bloembeker. De meeldraden zijn rechtopstaand, helmknoppen langwerpig, veelzijdig, aan de rug bevestigd, openspringend door longitudinale spleten. De stijl is lang en recht, de stempel afgerond, 4 locules. De bloemen zijn geel.
De vrucht is naar beneden gericht, gesteeld (steeltjes 0,6-0,9cm lang), stevig tonvormig tot komvormig, 1-1,5cm lang, 0,9-1,8cm breed, schijf aflopend, 4 kleppen, vastgehouden aan de rand. De zaden zijn donkerbruin, 0,7-2mm lang, eivormig tot afgeplat-eivormig, dorsaal oppervlak ondiep netvormig, hilum ventraal.
E. incerata verschilt van E. eremophila doordat het een lignotuber heeft, d.w.z. het is een mallee, geen mallet, en door sterk poederachtige vertakkingen, knoppen en vruchten, en door zijn beperkte verspreiding. De niet-poederachtige E. eremophila komt voor ten oosten van de zuidelijke tarwegordel en is de enige soort in de groep die zich uitbreidt tot in woestijngebieden. Twee mallee-soorten, de niet-poederachtige E. tenera en de enigszins wasachtige E. tephroclada, hebben zeer vergelijkbare slanke knoppen en vruchten die over het algemeen kleiner zijn dan die van de typische E. eremophila en E. incerata. Het enige verschil tussen E. tenera, dat wijdverbreid is in de zuidelijke en centrale tarwegordel, en E. tephroclada, meer beperkt tot het Hyden-Southern Cross-gebied, is de aanwezigheid van witte was op twijgen, knoppen en vruchten van de laatste.

Binnen deze subsectie behoort Eucalyptus incerata tot een kleine subgroep van drie soorten, serie Erectae subseries Annulatae met gladde schors, knoppen met lange operculum, rechtopstaande meeldraden, volwassen bladeren met talrijke olieklieren die de zijkanten en reticulatie verduisteren, en zaad met gespleten zaadvacht.

Zaai instructies
LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 18-22°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 3-14 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
