Ter nagedachtenis aan de botanicus James Drummond die zich in 1829 in Perth vestigde. Het is een eucalyptus die inheems is in het noorden en zuiden van Perth tot Bridgetown en Woodanilling.

Botanische beschrijving
Het is een mallee die een lignotuber vormt. De bast is over het hele oppervlak glad, vaak poederachtig. Jonge stengels zijn in doorsnede afgerond.
De jonge bladeren zijn altijd gesteeld en afwisselend, van ovaal tot bolvormig tot elliptisch. Ze zijn 5,5 tot 8cm lang en 1,8 tot 5,5cm breed, ze zijn dof, groen tot lichtgrijs. De volwassen bladeren zijn afwisselend, op bladsteel van 0,7 tot 2,2cm lang. Het blad is smal elliptisch tot langwerpig, soms zelfs ovaal of lancetvormig. Ze zijn 4 tot 7cm lang en 1 tot 2cm breed. De netvorming van de aderen is erg dicht.
De bloeiwijze is okselstandig en onvertakt, de steeltjes zijn soms hangend en zijn 0,7 tot 3cm lang. Er zijn 7 toppen per scherm, gesteeld van 0,2 tot 1,2cm lang. Als ze rijp zijn, zijn ze eivormig, zelden bolvormig en soms bedekt met een wasachtig wit laagje. Ze zijn 0,8 tot 1,8cm lang en 0,4 tot 1cm breed. Litteken aanwezig. Het operculum is in grote lijnen kegelvormig tot afgerond apiculaat. De helmknoppen zijn kubusvormig, veelzijdig, half aan de basis bevestigd, gebarsten door longitudinale spleten. De stijl is lang en recht, de stempel is stomp. 3 of 4 locules. Witte bloemen.
De vrucht is gesteeld van 0,3 tot 1cm, halfrond, hij meet 0,5 tot 0,9cm voor 1 tot 1,2cm breed. 3 of 4 diep uitstekende kleppen. De zaden zijn bruin, 1 tot 3mm lang, eivormig tot enigszins hoekig, dorsaal oppervlak netvormig, ventrale hilum.
De jonge bladeren zijn altijd gesteeld en afwisselend, van ovaal tot bolvormig tot elliptisch. Ze zijn 5,5 tot 8cm lang en 1,8 tot 5,5cm breed, ze zijn dof, groen tot lichtgrijs. Binnen deze subsectie Eucalyptus drummondii is in serie Curviptera subseries Xylocarpae, een van de ongeveer 17 nauw verwante soorten en ondersoorten die verder worden gekenmerkt door het hebben van grote knoppen in schermen van een, drie of zeven, meeldradendraden rechtopstaand of schuin (zelden inflex) in knop, en grote vruchten meestal met een opgaande schijf en uitgeoefende kleppen.

Zaai instructies
LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 15-20°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 3-6 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
Het gemiddelde zaadgewicht is 58,0 per gram (0,01725g).
