Uitleg
Bijnaam van het Griekse 'dendros' voor boom en 'morphos voor vorm, om het verschil met de andere verwante soorten die mallee zijn te accentueren. Hij is endemisch voor New South Wales, aanwezig op de plateaus en hellingen van de Blue Mountains ten zuiden van Budawang.

Botanische beschrijving
Het is een boom van ongeveer 30m hoog, lignotuber afwezig. De bast is over het algemeen ruw aan de onderkant van de stam, compact grijs of bruin. Vervolgens glad, wit, crème of grijs aan de bovenkant. Het vormt ook linten. Jonge reproductieve bomen hebben mogelijk geen ruwe schors.
De volwassen bladeren zijn afwisselend, bladsteel van 0,6 tot 1,5cm lang, blad lancetvormig tot sikkelvormig. Ze zijn 7 tot 12cm lang en 1 tot 2,5cm breed. De basis is over het algemeen schuin. Ze zijn aan beide kanten dezelfde kleur, glanzend, weinig netvorming. Intra marginale ader parallel aan en dicht bij de rand.
De bloeiwijze is onvertakte axillair, op steel van 0,6 tot 1,5cm lang, draagt 7 tot 11 knoppen per scherm, op steel 0,2 tot 0,6cm lang. De volwassen knoppen zijn ovaal, ze zijn 0,5 tot 0,6 cm lang en 0,2 tot 0,3cm breed, glad en soms wratachtig. Litteken afwezig, het operculum conisch tot afgerond-apiculaat. De meeldraden zijn onregelmatig gebogen, de helmknoppen zijn niervormig tot hartvormig, veelzijdig en aan de rug bevestigd. De stijl is lang, de stempel loopt taps toe, 3 tot 4 locules. Witte bloei wordt waargenomen in januari, juni en december.
De vruchten zijn gesteeld (steel 0,1 tot 0,5cm lang), komvormig of zelfs tonvormig en zijn 0,7 tot 1cm lang en 0,7 tot 1,1cm breed. 3 tot 4 kleppen. De bruine zaden van 1,5-2mm zijn piramidevormig of schuin piramidaal. Glad dorsaal oppervlak. Terminale hilum.

De Geslacht: Eucalyptus Ondergeslacht: Eucalyptus Sectie: Eucalyptus Serie: Strictae Onderserie: Irregulares heeft de volgende kenmerken: Mallee groeiwijze met gladde schors, afwisselende, groene juveniele bladeren, volwassen bladeren rechtopstaand en met scherpe zijaders en weinig of geen zichtbare reticulatie, enkele oksel bloeiwijzen, de knoppen in clusters van zevens, met knoppen met slechts één operculum en niervormige helmknoppen, eitjes in 2 rijen en ± piramidale zaden. Binnen de serie Strictae is Eucalyptus dendromorpha een van de zes nauw verwante soorten van de subserie Onregelmatig, alle met bladolieklieren die onregelmatig van vorm zijn.

LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Bewaar in de koelkast at 4°C gedurende 4 weeks in vochtig substraat. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 15-20°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 2-12 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
Het gemiddelde zaadgewicht is 250,0 per gram (0,004g).
