Uitleg
Deze mallee komt oorspronkelijk uit Zuidwest-Australië, met name in het Jarrah Forest ten zuidoosten van Perth, Boyup Brook en ten zuiden van Kokonup in Narrogin en strekt zich verder noordwaarts uit naar Boomer Hill. De oorsprong van de naam Eucalyptus aspersa komt van de Latijnse ‘aspersus’, wat betekent verspreid, dit verwijst naar het voorkomen van de soort in de bossen van Jarrah. Deze Eucalyptus groeit op kalkrijke gronden, met het hele jaar door een warm klimaat, met een vochtige zomer en een droge winter. Hij houdt van zeer goed doorlatende grond en een zonnige standplaats, hij is gevoelig voor koude periodes. Deze soort kan heel langzaam groeien als hij jong is. De zaailingen ontkiemen snel, maar het is niet ongebruikelijk om onmiddellijk daarna zaailingen te zien zaaien.

Botanische beschrijving
Deze mallee vormt een lignotuber. De bast is over het algemeen ruw op de meeste stelen, schilferig en vezelig, op losse plekken gehouden, lichtgrijs tot geelbruin, zelden met bijna gladde bast.
De stengel is vierkant tot afgerond in doorsnede. De jonge bladeren zijn kort gesteeld, afwisselend, elliptisch tot ovaal. Ze zijn 2 tot 7,5cm lang en 1,4 tot 3cm breed. De kleur is blauwachtig groen. De volwassen bladeren zijn 5,5 tot 12cm lang en 1 tot 2cm breed, ze zijn afwisselend en gesteeld van 0,5 tot 2cm lang, het blad is smal lansvormig tot soms sikkelvormig. De basis loopt gelijkmatig taps toe naar de bladsteel. De kleur van de bladeren is aan beide kanten hetzelfde, lichtgroen en licht glanzend. Netvorming is matig tot dicht, de intra-marginale ader is parallel aan en net binnen de rand.
De bloeiwijze is onvertakt axillair, de steel is 0,5 tot 1,2cm lang, samengesteld uit 7 knoppen per scherm, steeltjes tot 0,4cm lang. De volwassen knop is een beetje eivormig. Het litteken is aanwezig. Het operculum is snavelvormig en is 0,5 tot 0,8cm lang. De meeldraden zijn onregelmatig gebogen of soms naar binnen verbogen. De helmknoppen zijn zwak veelzijdig, aan de basis bevestigd, bolvormig, ontsierd door laterale poriën, de stijl is lang, de stempel loopt taps toe. Er zijn 3 of 4 locules. De witte bloemen verschijnen van augustus tot november.
De vrucht is 0,2 tot 0,3 cm lang, gesteeld, meestal urnvormig, soms afgeknot bolvormig tot komvormig. De vrucht meet 0,4 tot 0,8cm lang en 0,4 tot 0,7cm breed, 3 of 4 kleppen aanwezig. De zaden zijn bruin of grijs, 0,9 tot 1,1mm lang, eivormig, afgeplat eivormig, glad dorsaal oppervlak met soms ondiepe longitudinale groeven, ventrale hilum.

Binnen deze onderafdeling maakt Eucalyptus aspersa deel uit van de grote taxonomische reeks Subulatae die verder wordt gekenmerkt door globoïde basifixed helmknoppen, grijze gladde zaden met ondiepe longitudinale groeven en fruit met aanhoudende uitgeoefende stijlresten. Serie Subulatae is in principe onderverdeeld in vier subseries op basis van de juveniele bladeren. Subserie Decussatae met kruisvormige niet-uitlopende zaailingen.

Zaai instructies
LENTE Selecteer de grootste en meest vlezige BRUINE zaden. Zaai de zaden op 2mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 15-20°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 3-6 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.
