Uitleg
Bekend onder de naam Atlantische dryopteris. Het is aanwezig in een groot Europees deel tot aan Macaronesia (alle eilanden ten westen van Afrika en Europa in de Atlantische Oceaan, Canarische Eilanden, Azoren, Madeira en Kaapverdië). Het is een soort die in zijn hele verspreidingsgebied verband houdt met het milde en vochtige zeeklimaat. Het komt vooral voor in vochtig kreupelhout en in de buurt van water. Alleen op silicaatrijke grond.
De plant heeft enkele getufte bladeren, 30 tot 60cm lang, driehoekig en met een karakteristiek kroes uiterlijk. Gemakkelijk te verwarren met Dryopteris dilatata, men onderscheidt het voornamelijk door zijn kliervorming, hoewel vrij zwak en met zijn eenkleurige schubben.
De soort wordt beschermd in Frankrijk, waar hij zich bevindt van Finistère tot Cotentin en Baskenland. Het is een elegante plant, met een lichtgroene teint die eigenlijk niet voor de sier gebruikt wordt. Het moet echter in de zachtste hoeken van de tuin worden bewaard, weg van vorst, droogte en wind.
Ervaringen
Hygrofiele soorten van het zeeklimaat helaas te kwetsbaar hier, enkele jaren geleden getest in kas 1 en verloren.
