Uitleg
Hier is een varen met een breed bereik. Hij komt voor in Noord- en Zuid-Amerika, in de Oostelijke helft van Afrika en in de Macaronesië (De eilanden ten Westen van Afrika en Europa, in de Atlantische Oceaan, samengesteld uit de archipels van de Azoren, Madeira, de Canarische eilanden en de Kaapverdische eilanden). Deze soort vestigt zich (zoals heel veel Asplenium) in de spleten van rotsen, de rotsachtige valleien, het bemoste kreupelhout op silicium houdende grond.
Ervaringen
Veel jonge planten uit zaailingen, ogenschijnlijk krachtige planten maar die nog tijd nodig hebben.

Botanische beschrijving
Het heeft meestal een stijve groeiwijze, met bladeren van 15 tot 50cm hoog, verdeeld in zwartbruine stelen en zachte groene bladeren. Deze zijn langwerpig en fijn gegraveerd.
Het kan gemakkelijk worden verward met A.lunulatum met varenbladen die bulbils uitstoten.
