Acacia limbata       0

Het is een slanke, kale, harsachtige struik, 0,4-2m hoog. De schors is in de lengterichting gespleten, grijs of grijsbruin. De twijgen zijn afgeplat in de richting van toppen, vaak berijpt, kaal. De ribbels zijn prominent, niet harsachtig.

De fyllodia zijn schuin nauw elliptisch, elliptisch-langwerpig of omgekeerd lancetvormig, een beetje sikkelvormig, meestal 6-10cm lang, 12-33mm breed, met bleke, prominente randen, een beetje leerachtig, kaal, met 3 prominente longitudinale nerven en 3 of 4 subprominente, parallelle nerven, de kleine nerven zijn 2-4 per mm, verbonden. Er is 1 basale klier, 0,2-3,8mm boven het bladkussentje.

De bloeiwijze bestaat uit bloeiende aren. De steeltjes zijn 20-40mm lang. De aren zijn 0,9-2,5cm lang, heldergeel. De bloemen zijn 5-voudig. De kelk is 0,5-0,8mm lang, kaal. De bloemkroon is 1,2-1,8mm lang, kaal. Het vruchtbeginsel is kaal.

De peulen zijn rechtopstaand, meestal smal omgekeerd lancetvormig, rechtzijdig, plat, 3,8-8,5cm lang, 8,5-15mm breed, houtachtig, roodachtig of paarsachtig bruin, bleker boven zaden, soms berijpt, schuin generfd, kaal, elastisch openend van een gehaakte top. De zaden zijn schuin, elliptisch tot omgekeerd eirond, 4,6-6,6mm lang, bruinzwart.

Het is zeer nauw verwant aan en moeilijk te onderscheiden van A. brevifolia.

De Geslacht: Acacia Ondergeslacht: Phyllodineae Sectie: Juliflorae heeft de volgende kenmerken: Bomen of struiken, soms uitgestrekt. Takken ongewapend. stipules normaal aanwezig en eng, zelden spinose. Bladeren dubbel geveerd of vaker gemodificeerd tot polymorfe phyllodes, zelden verkleind tot schubben of afwezig. Bloeiwijzen enkelvoudig of trosvormig, soms in paniek; bloemen gerangschikt in hoofden of spikes; hoofden zonder omhulsel op de steel; bloemen zonder gynofoor.

Subgenus Phyllodineae bevat ongeveer 950 soorten, waarvan de meeste zijn beperkt tot Australië; naar schatting zijn er minstens 50 extra, nog onbeschreven soorten.

Een groot deel, wijdverbreid in Australië, gekenmerkt door soorten met plurinerved phyllodes en bloemdragende bloeiwijze assen met cilindrische spikes.

Er is weinig bekend over de voorkeuren in de teelt aangezien deze vrij recent is geïntroduceerd door liefhebbers. Moet een nuttige sierplant blijken te zijn voor noordelijke streken van plaatsen met een heet, droog klimaat.

LENTE Week de zaden in warm water van 99°C gedurende 12h. Zaai de zaden op 5mm diepte in de Drainerende zaaigrond tussen 20-25°C. Tijdens het ontkiemen het substraat vochtig en in het daglicht houden. De zaden ontkiemen in 2-3 weken. De levensvatbaarheid van het zaad, bewaard onder goede omstandigheden, is 10 jaren.

Stek instructies
Neem de stekken aan het einde van de lente, laat ze weken in een hormonaal preparaat voor stekken. Plant ze in een substraat dat rijk is aan perliet en houd ze voldoende vochtig in afgesloten diepvrieszakjes.
