Cette espèce est originaire du Honduras. Il commémore apparemment Doris, fille d'Oceanus, épouse de Nereus et mère de 50 nymphes marines. On le trouve à des altitudes comprises entre 1000 et 2500m.

Description botanique
C'est un arbuste aux tiges bien ramifiées. Il a des feuilles vert clair, ovales avec une base en forme de cœur, de 10cm de long et 8cm de large, avec une forte pubescence transparente et dentelées sur leurs marges.
Les fleurs s'épanouissent progressivement en verticilles de 2 à 10 fleurs avec l'allongement de la tige florale qui peut atteindre 30cm. La bractée deltoïde est caduque. Le calice mesure 2cm, vert clair, visqueux et poilu, porté par un pédoncule de 5mm. La lèvre supérieure est marquée de 7 nervures bien visibles et se termine en une seule pointe, la lèvre inférieure porte 2 dents aiguës de 6mm, à l'intérieur une paire de papilles à la base et une paire de staminodes à mi-longueur. La lèvre inférieure est fléchie, la lèvre supérieure bossue et pubescente, recouvrant entièrement les étamines, qui s'insèrent à l'ouverture des lèvres, portées par des filaments de 7mm, s'insérant au centre des connectifs de 3cm. Le style est couvert de longs poils roses saillants à l'extrémité, avec un bras postérieur plus long.

Plante utile
Un extrait des feuilles est utilisé comme ingrédient dans les préparations cosmétiques commerciales comme revitalisant pour la peau.
