Acacia cognata       10231

C'est un arbuste ou arbre qui a la particularité d'être visqueux, collant. Les rameaux sont saillants, courbés à pendants. Généralement glabres, ils portent des bandes résineuses longitudinales en alternance avec des côtes vertes à brunes.

Les phyllodes de 10cm de long au maximum sont étroitement linéaires voire linéaires, elliptiques de 1 à 3,5mm de large. De couleur vert foncé à vert jaunâtre, ils sont minces, résineux et glabres à l'exception des marges. Leur nervure centrale est très marquée à contrario des nervures adjacentes qui sont à peine visibles. Son inflorescence est simple au nombre de 2 par aisselle et possède un pédoncule de 3 à 6mm de long. Elle est globuleuse, composée de 10 à 17 fleurs de 4 à 5mm de diamètre d'un jaune citron pâle. Les fleurs sont pentamères aux sépales unis. Vient ensuite la gousse linéaire de 10cm de long pour 1 à 4mm de large, glabre. Les graines sont longitudinales, oblongues de 4 à 4,5mm de long, brun foncé et terne.

Le Genre: Acacia Sous-genre: Phyllodineae Section: Plurinerves ayant les caractères suivants : Arbres ou arbustes, parfois prostrés. Branches désarmées. stipules normalement présentes et scarieuses, rarement épineuses. Feuilles bipennées ou plus communément modifiées en phyllodes polymorphes, rarement réduites en écailles ou absentes. Inflorescences simples ou racémeuses, parfois paniculées ; fleurs disposées en têtes ou en épis ; têtes sans involucelle sur le pédoncule; fleurs sans gynophore.

Le sous-genre Phyllodineae contient environ 950 espèces, dont la majorité sont confinées à l'Australie ; on estime qu'il existe au moins 50 espèces supplémentaires, non encore décrites.

Une grande section, répandue en Australie, caractérisée par des espèces ayant des phyllodes plurinervés et des axes d'inflorescence florifères ayant des têtes globuleuses.

Il apprécie le soleil partiel mais tolère le plein soleil. Il est également tolérant au froid et réagi bien aux excès d'eau dû aux orages en périodes sèches. Les premiers colons utilisaient le bois pour les manches d'outils, les arbres de concert et comme mâts de navires, en raison de sa ténacité et de son élasticité.

PRINTEMPS Tremper les graines dans de l'eau chaude à 99°C pendant 5min. Remplacer par de l'eau à température ambiante pendant 12h. Semer les graines à 5mm de profondeur dans le Terreau drainant pour semis entre 20-25°C. Pendant la germination garder le substrat humide et à la lumière du jour. Les graines germent en 2-3 semaines.
Le poids moyen des graines est 108,0 par gramme (0,009256g).
La viabilité des graines, gardées sous des bonnes conditions, est 10 ans.

Instructions de bouturage
Prélevez les boutures à la fin du printemps, trempez-les dans une préparation hormonale pour bouturage. Plantez-les dans un substrat riche en perlite et gardez-les suffisamment humides dans des sacs de congélation scellés.
