Acacia paradoxa       3370

Acacia paradoxa est un arbuste qui se développe sous la forme de buisson. Arbustif et dense, cet arbuste se caractérise par son aspect hostile, avec ses branches anguleuses, pourvues d'épines et aux « feuilles » aux pointes piquantes. Les rameaux côtelés sont glabres, les stipules épineuses sont étalées et mesure de 4 à 12mm de long.

Les phyllodes érigés, obliques, lancéolés sont parfois étroitement oblongues-elliptiques. Ils mesurent de 8 à 20mm de long pour 2 à 7mm de large. Aigus ou obtus ils sont glabres à peu poilus, traversés par une nervure médiane. Les inflorescences sont simples, normalement une par axe, les pédoncules de 5 à 15mm de long sont glabres. Les têtes globulaires jusqu'à 12mm de diamètre sont denses environ 30 à 50 fleurs par racème, de couleur dorée. Les gousses linéaires à étroitement oblongues mesurent jusqu'à 6cm de long pour 3 à 5mm de large. Elles sont finement coriaces et densément poilues. Les graines longitudinales sont oblongues, mesurent de 3,5 à 5mm de long et sont de couleur brun foncé brillant.

Le Genre: Acacia Sous-genre: Phyllodineae Section: Acacia ayant les caractères suivants : Arbres ou arbustes, parfois prostrés. Branches désarmées. stipules normalement présentes et scarieuses, rarement épineuses. Feuilles bipennées ou plus communément modifiées en phyllodes polymorphes, rarement réduites en écailles ou absentes. Inflorescences simples ou racémeuses, parfois paniculées ; fleurs disposées en têtes ou en épis ; têtes sans involucelle sur le pédoncule; fleurs sans gynophore.

Le sous-genre Phyllodineae contient environ 950 espèces, dont la majorité sont confinées à l'Australie ; on estime qu'il existe au moins 50 espèces supplémentaires, non encore décrites.

C'est le plus grand groupe du sous-genre Phyllodineae. Il est répandu en Australie, les zones les plus riches en espèces se trouvant au sud du tropique du Capricorne, dans les zones tempérées et semi-arides adjacentes de l'est, du sud-est et du sud-ouest de l'Australie ; la section est peu représentée dans le nord tropical/subtropical du continent. Il n'y a pas d'espèce indigène de la section Phyllodineae présente en dehors de l'Australie.

Cet arbuste est très prisé par les horticulteurs pour plusieurs raisons. Tout d'abord, parce qu'il supporte l'élevage en pot et surtout parce qu'il présente une résistance incroyable. En effet, il s'adapte à une exposition plein soleil, comme un peu plus ombragée. Résistant au gel, il supporte également des températures élevées et peu survivre à des excès d'eau comme à des périodes de sécheresse. Dans les jardins, il peut être utilisé pour limiter l'érosion des sols. Son aspect hostile, avec ses épines, en fait également un refuge de choix pour les oiseaux.

PRINTEMPS Tremper les graines dans de l'eau chaude à 99°C pendant 12h. Semer les graines à 5mm de profondeur dans le Terreau drainant pour semis entre 15-20°C. Pendant la germination garder le substrat humide et à la lumière du jour. Les graines germent en 2-3 semaines.
Le poids moyen des graines est 71,4 par gramme (0,014g).
La viabilité des graines, gardées sous des bonnes conditions, est 10 ans.

Instructions de bouturage
Prélevez les boutures à la fin du printemps, trempez-les dans une préparation hormonale pour bouturage. Plantez-les dans un substrat riche en perlite et gardez-les suffisamment humides dans des sacs de congélation scellés.
