Description
Encore un eucalyptus, dont le nom est équivoque. Mais concernant l'eucalyptus diversicolor, il fait plutôt référence aux feuilles de l'arbre, qui sont de deux couleurs différentes selon l'endroit et l'envers. On le rencontre généralement dans les états du sud de l'Australie, notamment à l'Ouest ou au sud de la Nouvelle-Galle-du-Sud.

Description botanique
Cet arbre, a une seule tige, présente une écorce souple, dont la couleur peut varier en fonction des saisons, passant du gris pale au rose saumon, voire jaune crème, à mesure que l'arbre la renouvelle.
Les feuilles sont vertes et bien rondes à l'état juvénile. A leur maturité, elles deviennent plus allongées, ne mesurant que 2 à 3cm de large. Leur couleur est assez terne, mais ces feuilles se reconnaissent facilement parce qu'elles sont d'un vert foncé sur le dessus, et d'un vert pâle en dessous.
La floraison a lieu en été et au printemps et les fleurs sont blanches.

Cependant, il n'est étroitement lié à aucune autre espèce et occupe une position solitaire dans la section Inclusae car les cotylédons sont bilobés à oblongs, les étamines sont inflexées, les fruits ont des valves fermées, les graines sont aplaties-ovoïdes et les rameaux sont dépourvus de glandes moelles.
Les feuilles sont vertes et bien rondes à l'état juvénile. A leur maturité, elles deviennent plus allongées, ne mesurant que 2 à 3cm de large. Leur couleur est assez terne, mais ces feuilles se reconnaissent facilement parce qu'elles sont d'un vert foncé sur le dessus, et d'un vert pâle en dessous.
La floraison a lieu en été et au printemps et les fleurs sont blanches.

Plante utile
Sa hauteur en fait un arbre de choix pour l'exploitation forestière, l'Eucalyptus diversicolor présentant également l'avantage d'avoir une croissance rapide. Le plus haut spécimen connu à ce jour est tombé en 1901 à Pemberton (sud-ouest de l'Australie occidentale), et mesurait 87m. Son bois costaud est prisé pour des constructions mais aussi de la pâte à papier. De fait, cet arbre est rarement planté en dehors des espaces naturels où on l'entretien pour son bois exclusivement.
