Description
C'est un mallée endémique de l'Australie occidentale, limité à la région du mont Day entre Hyden et Norseman. L'épithète de cette espèce vient du latin inceratus, qui signifie recouvert de cire.

Description botanique
C'est un mallée à 5m de haut. Il forme un lignotubercule. L'écorce est entièrement lisse, gris-brun clair sur orange. Les rameaux sont glauques. Les glandes sébacées sont présentes dans la moelle.

Les feuilles juvéniles ne sont pas visibles. Les feuilles adultes sont épaisses, alternes, avec des pétioles de 0,5 à 1,7cm de long. Le limbe est lancéolé, de 5 à 10,5cm de long, de 1 à 3,2cm de large, la base s'effilant en pétiole, la marge entière, l'apex pointu, concolore, glauque au début mais brillant à maturité, vert, la surface apparaissant "vitrée". Les veines latérales sont aiguës ou obscures, réticulation non visible, veine intramarginale présente ou obscure, glandes sébacées nombreuses.

L'inflorescence est axillaire non ramifiée, pendante, à pédoncules aplatis, de 1,5–3,5cm de long. Il y a 7 bourgeons par ombelle, pédicellés (pédicelles de 0,7 à 1,2cm de long). Les bourgeons matures sont allongés, 2,2–3,5cm de long, 0,6–0,9cm de large (fusiformes asymétriques), glauques, cicatrice présente (l'opercule externe tombe tôt), l'opercule en forme de corne émoussée, environ 2–2,5 fois la longueur de l'hypanthium. Les étamines sont dressées, les anthères oblongues, polyvalentes, dorsifixées, déhiscentes par des fentes longitudinales. Le style est long et droit, le stigmate arrondi, 4 loges, le placenta avec chacun 4 rangées verticales d'ovules. Les fleurs sont jaunes.

Le fruit est tourné vers le bas, pédicellé (pédicelles de 0,6 à 0,9cm de long), solidement en forme de tonneau à cupulaire, de 1 à 1,5cm de long, de 0,9 à 1,8cm de large, disque descendant, masqué par un staminophore persistant, 4 valves, maintenues au bord niveau. Les graines sont brun foncé, 0,7–2mm de long, ovoïdes à aplaties-ovoïdes, la surface dorsale est peu réticulée, le hile ventral.

E. incerata diffère d'E. eremophila par le fait qu'il possède un lignotubercule, c'est-à-dire qu'il s'agit d'un mallee, pas d'un maillet, et par ses rameaux, bourgeons et fruits fortement glauques, et par sa distribution restreinte. L'E. eremophila non glauque se trouve à l'est de la ceinture de blé méridionale et est la seule espèce du groupe à s'étendre dans les zones désertiques. Deux espèces mallee, l'E. tenera non glauque et l'E. tephroclada légèrement cireuse ont des bourgeons minces et des fruits très similaires qui sont généralement plus petits que ceux trouvés chez E. eremophila et E. incerata typiques. La seule différence entre E. tenera, largement répandue dans la ceinture de blé méridionale et centrale, et E. tephroclada, plus restreinte à la région de Hyden-Southern Cross, est la présence de cire blanche sur les rameaux, les bourgeons et les fruits de cette dernière.

Dans cette sous-section Eucalyptus incerata appartient à un petit sous-groupe de trois espèces, la série Erectae sous-série Annulatae ayant une écorce lisse, des bourgeons à long opercule, des étamines dressées, des feuilles adultes avec de nombreuses glandes sébacées obscurcissant les nervures latérales et la réticulation, et des graines à tégument fissuré.

PRINTEMPS Sélectionner les graines BRUNES les plus grosses et les plus charnues. Semer les graines à 2mm de profondeur dans le Terreau drainant pour semis entre 18-22°C.
