Description
Ce mallee est originaire du Sud-ouest de l'Australie, et plus précisément dans la forêt de Jarrah au sud-est de Perth, à Boyup Brook et au sud de Kokonup à Narrogin et s'étend plus au nord vers Boomer Hill. L'origine de son nom Eucalyptus aspersa vient du latin aspersus qui signifie dispersé, ceci fait référence aux occurrences de l'espèce dans les forêts de Jarrah. Cet Eucalyptus pousse dans des sols calcaires, avec un climat chaud toute l'année, avec un été humide et un hiver sec. Il aime les sols très bien drainés et une situation ensoleillée, il est sensible aux périodes froides. Cette espèce peut avoir une croissance très lente lorsqu'elle est jeune. Ses semis germent de façon rapide mais il n'est pas rare de voir une fonte des semis juste après.

Description botanique
Ce mallee forme un lignotuber. Son écorce est généralement rugueuse sur la plupart des tiges, feuilletée et fibreuse, maintenue en plaques lâches, gris clair à brun jaunâtre, rarement à écorce presque lisse.
La tige est carrée à arrondie en coupe transversale. Les feuilles juvéniles sont brièvement pétiolées, alternes, elliptiques à ovales. Elles mesurent de 2 à 7,5cm de long et de 1,4 à 3cm de large. Sa couleur est vert bleuâtre. Les feuilles adultes mesurent 5,5 à 12cm de long pour 1 à 2cm de large, elles sont alternes et pétiolées de 0,5 à 2cm de long, le limbe est étroitement lancéolé à lancéolé et parfois falciforme. La base effilée uniformément au pétiole. La couleur des feuilles est concolore, vert clair et légèrement brillant. La réticulation est modérée à dense, la nervure intra marginale est parallèle et juste à l'intérieur de la marge.
L'inflorescence est axillaire non ramifiée, le pédoncule mesure 0,5 à 1,2cm de long, composée de 7 bourgeons par ombelles, pédicellés atteignant 0,4cm de long. Le bourgeon mature est étroitement ovoïde. Le bourgeon mesure 0,8 à 1,1cm de long pour 0,3 à 0,4cm de large. La cicatrice est présente. L'opercule a un bec et mesure 0,5 à 0,8cm de long. Les étamines sont irrégulièrement fléchies ou rarement inflexées. Les anthères sont faiblement polyvalentes, basifixées, globoïdes, déhiscentes par des pores latéraux, le style est long, le stigmate est effilé. Les locules sont au nombre de 3 ou 4. Les fleurs de couleur blanches apparaissent d'août à novembre.

Dans cette sous-section Eucalyptus aspersa fait partie de la grande série taxonomique Subulatae caractérisée en outre par des anthères globoïdes basifixées, des graines grises lisses avec des sillons longitudinaux peu profonds et des fruits avec des restes de style persistants. La série Subulatae est principalement divisée en quatre sous-séries basées sur les feuilles juvéniles. Sous-série Decussatae à feuilles de semis décussées non décurrentes.

PRINTEMPS Sélectionner les graines BRUNES les plus grosses et les plus charnues. Semer les graines à 2mm de profondeur dans le Terreau drainant pour semis entre 15-20°C. Pendant la germination garder le substrat humide et à la lumière du jour. Les graines germent en 3-6 semaines. La viabilité des graines, gardées sous des bonnes conditions, est 10 années.
