Description
In memory of Leonard Rodway (1853-1936) honorary botanist for 36 years by decision of the Tasmanian government, for his immense contribution including his main publication "Flora of Tasmania" 1903 fully illustrated. Botanical Description
It is a tree with a solitary trunk or with multiple trunks, without a lignotuber. Its bark is rough on the trunk and branches, fibrous whose outer layer is crumbly, and the inner layer remains hard, gray and gray-brown in color.

The juvenile leaves are opposite and sessile on 6 to 8 nodes then sub-opposite to alternate. Shortly petiolate, lanceolate to elliptical, 2.5 to 7.8cm long and 0.7 to 2cm wide, green in color. The adult leaves are alternate, on petiole from 0.5 to 1.5cm long, blade narrowly lanceolate to falcate, they are between 5 and 13.5cm long and 0.7 to 2cm wide. Base is tapered to the petiole. Concolorous, glossy green, densely reticulated. Intra-marginal vein is parallel and close to the margin.

The unbranched axillary inflorescence on a 0.4 to 0.8cm long peduncle bears 7 to 11 pedicellate buds (0.2 to 0.3cm long pedicel). At maturity, the buds are ovoid or even diamond-shaped (0.4 to 0.6cm long and 0.2 to 0.35cm wide), green to yellow in color. Scar present, conical operculum. Inflexed or irregularly flexed stamens. Cuboid to oblong anthers, versatile, dorsifixed, dehiscent longitudinally. Long style, blunt stigma. 3 to 4 locules. White flowering was recorded from December to March.

The fruit is sessile or pedicelled (maximum pedicel 0.2cm long), obconical to hemispherical (0.2 to 0.5cm long and 0.4 to 0.6cm wide). 3 or 4 valves. The seeds are brown or gray and measure 1.2 to 2mm long, ovoid or flattened ovoid, often pointed at one end, smooth or pitted dorsal surface, ventral hilum.
Member of
The Genus: Eucalyptus Subgenus: Symphyomyrtus Section: Maidenaria Subsection: Triangulares Serie: Foveolatae having the following characters: The cotyledons are bilobed, inflorescences axillary, anthers versatile and seeds flattened-ovoid. Within this large section, Eucalyptus rodwayi is one of ten species forming series Foveolatae further characterised by being swamp-dwellers with fruit more or less obconical.

Sowing instructions
AUTUMN Select the largest and most fleshy BROWN seeds. Keep in refrigerator at 39°F for 4 weeks in dry condition. Sow the seeds at 2mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix between 68-77°F. During germination keep the substrate moist and in daylight. The seeds germinate in 3-6 weeks.
The average seed weight is 1298,7 per gram (0,00077g).
The viability of the seeds, kept under good conditions, is 10 years.
