Botanical Description
This is a robust, perennial herb. Te stem is 30-70cm, stout, densely leafy almost throughout.

The numerous leaves are erect to suberect, rather rigid, glaucous, with papillate margins, lower ones 15-25cm x 1.5-3mm, middle and upper ones gradually smaller, the uppermost reaching base of inflorescence. The leaf bases are widened, scarious, sheathing stem except in the uppermost part.

The inflorescence is racemose, dense, occupying 1/3-1/2 of stem. The bracts are conspicuous, circa 25-30 x 6-10mm, shortly acuminate, scarious, white with dark midvein.

The fruiting pedicels are circa 10mm. The perianth segments are 12-16 x 2-4mm, connate for circa 1mm, white with greenish-brown midvein. The filaments are papillate, those of shorter stamens swollen at apex. The style is equaling the perianth segments. The capsule is circa 9mm. The seeds are circa 5mm, triquetrous.
