Family: Gleicheniaceae
Genus: Sticherus
Synonym(s): Gleichenia littoralis
English name: Shiny fan fern
Zone: Australia

Description
This fern is native and very common throughout Grande Terre and even on the Isle of Pines and Belep. They are generally found in degraded ligno-herbaceous maquis, even in large single-specific populations in secondary thickets, more often in open wetlands. Sticherus flabellatus has a more limited distribution, from Malaysia to New Zealand via Australia. In New Caledonia, this species is sometimes considered invasive. Indeed, they tend to form impenetrable thickets and their habitat is closely linked to the passage of bush fires.
