Botanical Description
It is a tree with a solitary trunk, arising from a lignotuber. Its bark is rough, thick, fibrous and spongy, reddish brown to gray brown.
The juvenile leaves are always petiolate, opposite from 5 to 7 pairs, then alternate and ovate to broadly lanceolate. They are 6 to 19cm long and 2.5 to 8cm wide. Rounded to tapered bases. Discolorous, green and dull. The adult leaves are alternate on a petiole from 1.5 to 3cm long. The blade is broadly lanceolate to ovate. They measure 8.5 to 17cm long and 2.5 to 7cm wide. The base is tapering tot the petiole. Discolorous, glossy and green. Moderately to densely reticulate, intra-marginal vein is parallel to and just within the margin.
The inflorescence is unbranched axillary, on a broadly flattened peduncle from 1.5 to 3cm long It bears 9 to 15 pedicellate buds (pedicel 0.4 to 1.5cm long). At maturity the buds are fusiform to pyriform (1.6 to 2cm long, 0.6 to 0.9cm wide), yellow or cream-coloured. Scar present, operculum is conical to beaked. Inflexed stamens, cuboid to oblong anthers, versatile, dorsifixed and dehiscing longitudinally. Long style, tapered stigma. 3 to 4 locules. White flowering is recorded in May and from July to October.
The pedicellate fruit (pedicel 0.5 to 1.2 cm long) is cylindrical, 1 to 1.6 cm long and 0.7 to 1.1 cm wide. Descending disc, 3 to 4 valves. The light brown to yellow seeds, 1.2 to 1.8mm long, are pyramidal or obliquely pyramidal. Smooth dorsal surface, terminal hilum.

Member of
The Genus: Eucalyptus Subgenus: Symphyomyrtus Section: Latoangulatae Serie: Annulares having the following characters: The cotyledons are bilobed, leaves are discolorous and have side-veins at a wide angle to the midrib, buds have two opercula and fruit have exserted valves. Within this section, Eucalyptus robusta is one of seven species forming series Annulares (the red mahoganies), as it has ovules in 6 or 8 rows, seeds cuboid to pyramidal and bark rough over the trunk.

Useful plant
Its wood is widely used, both in the construction of fences and as an ornamental species, but also in the production of honey.

Sowing instructions
SPRING Select the largest and most fleshy BROWN seeds. Sow the seeds at 2mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix between 64-72°F. During germination keep the substrate moist and in daylight. The seeds germinate in 3-6 weeks.
The average seed weight is 317,5 per gram (0,00315g).
The viability of the seeds, kept under good conditions, is 10 years.
