Description
This species occurs on the ultramafic areas of the Red Hills Ridge and on the Bryant Range in Nelson Province, New Zealand.

Botanical Description
This is a shrub, much-branched to erect, 15-25cm tall. The branches are stout and spreading, ringed with the scars of the fallen leaves. The branchlets are pubescent towards their tips, internodes short.
The leaf bud is with a distinct and prominent sinus. The leaves are closely imbricating, spreading to more or less erect, 9-12mm long by 6-7mm wide, broadly obovate, thick and coriaceous, dark green under a glaucous bloom. The apex is obtuse.
The inflorescences are lateral, crowded near the tips of the branchlets, up to 2.5cm long, often appearing to form a dense terminal head. The peduncle is up to 1cm long, pubescent. The pedicels are less than 1mm long, bracts 2-2.5mm long, narrow and ciliolate. The calyx lobes are 2-2.5mm long, rather broad, obtuse, ciliolate. The corolla is white, tube slightly longer than the calyx, lobes longer.
The capsule is erect, 5 by 2.5mm, rather acute and glabrous.
