Description
This species is from eastern Europe, Balkans, Caucasia. It grows in Quercus and Pinus forests and scrub, macchie, stony slopes, ruins, 250-1300m.

Botanical Description
This is a perennial, 25-50cm, often slightly woody and slightly branched at base. The stems are erect or slightly ascending at base, robust, densely pilose with crisp 0.8-1.2mm hairs and with 6-11 pairs of leaves below lowest raceme.
The leaves are subsessile, 15-25 x 5-20mm, deeply pinnatisect or bipinnatisect (leaves of shoot apex also usually pinnatisect), pubescent with upward-curved or crisp 0.4-1.2mm hairs. The margins are slightly revolute, often blackening when dry.
There are 2-4 racemes, usually opposite, 10-15cm, 30-50-flowered, axis and pedicels pubescent with crisp eglandular 0.4-1.0mm hairs, peduncle 4-10cm. The pedicels are 3-6mm, 0.7-1.5 x bracts. The lower bracts are pinnatifid, upper linear. The calyx is 4-7mm, lobes 4-5, linear-lanceolate, pilose or glabrous. The corolla is bright to deep blue, 12-18mm in diameter. The style is 5-6.5mm.
The capsule is elliptic to suborbicular, 5-7 x 4-6mm, 1-1.5 x calyx, shortly pubescent or glabrous, base rounded-truncate, sinus acute, 0.2-0.25 x capsule length, lobes often somewhat pointed at apex. It has circa 6-12 seeds, elliptic, 2-2.5 x 1.5-2mm, slightly convex, rugose.
