Botanical Description
This is an erect or ascending subshrub with thin, branching, woody rootstock. The stems are 15-25cm, leafy, white-tomentose.
The leaves of sterile shoots and basal leaves of flowering stems are 2-pinnatisect, 2-5 x 0.5-1.75cm, ovate or broadly elliptic in outline, pseudo-entire with contiguous segments, primary segments 10-25-paired, up to 0.9cm, their lobes 3-12-paired, 1-1.5 x 0.5mm, oblanceolate, acute or obtuse at apex, densely covered with silvery-white tomentum. The cauline leaves are smaller, primary segments generally distinct. The uppermost leaves are usually pinnatisect.
There are 3-7(-18) capitula in sparse or dense corymbs, sometimes solitary. The involucre is 5-8mm broad. The phyllaries are lanceolate to linear-oblong, 2.5-4.5 x 1mm, usually white-tomentose. The inner phyllaries are very shortly scarious. There are 12-15 ray flowers, yellow. The ligules are 1-2 x 1.5-2mm, 3-lobed at apex. The disc flowers are 2.75-3mm.
The achenes are 5-8-ribbed, greyish-brown, 2-2.5mm. The corona is minutely dentate, circa 0.1mm.
