Botanical Description
This species is an annual or perennial, erect or decumbent herb 50-100cm tall. The stems are woody at the base, up to 6mm in diameter, glabrous to sparsely pubescent with uni- or multicellular hairs up to 0.5mm long, glabrescent.

The leaves are pinnatifid or bipinnatifid. The blades are 16-80 x 12-62mm, 1-2 times as long as wide, ovate, both surfaces glabrous to sparsely pubescent, sometimes more densely so along the veins of the abaxial surface. The hairs are multicellular, up to 0.25mm long, the abaxial surface often with sessile, circular glands circa 0.05mm in diameter. The lamina is divided into 3-5 pairs of primary pinnae. The pinnae are 5-17 x circa1mm, decreasing in length from the base to the leaf apex, with 1-3 pairs of secondary pinnae along each side. The secondary pinnae are 1-3mm long. The apex of primary and secondary pinnae is obtuse. The petioles are 4-22mm, occasionally with a narrow wing on either side up to 1mm wide, the indumentum as in the blades.

The inflorescences are 3-5.1cm long, borne on axillary shoots, branched 1-3 times, with 12-30 flowers, the axes moderately to densely pubescent with appressed, uni- and multicellular hairs up to 0.4mm long. The peduncle is 0.5-3.5cm at anthesis. The pedicels are 1-3mm at anthesis, 4-7mm in fruit, spaced 1-10mm apart in fruit. The calyx is 2-4mm long, the tube 0.5-2mm, the lobes equal, 1.2-2 x 0.5-0.7mm at anthesis, 1.9-3 x 0.7-1.6mm in fruit, ovate to elliptic. The apex is acute, both surfaces glabrous to sparsely pubescent with multicellular hairs up to 0.4mm long. The corolla is 5-7mm in diameter, pentagonal, blue, violet, pale lilac or lavender. The tube is 0.75-1mm long. The lobes are 2.5-3.5 x 2.5-4mm, moderately pubescent abaxially with multicellular hairs up to 0.2mm long, glabrous adaxially. The stamens are equal. The filament tube is 0.75-1mm long, glabrous, filaments equal, 1.2-3.5mm long, densely pubescent with white hairs, 0.1mm long. The anthers are equal, 0.75-2 x 0.75-1mm, oblong, yellow. The pores are elliptic, rapidly opening into longitudinal slits with age. The style is 2.8-3 x 0.1-0.3mm, the lower half densely pubescent with white hairs, 0.1mm long. The stigma is clavate, 0.6-1 x 0.5mm.

The fruit is 4-6mm in diameter, green-purple or black. The stone cells are usually present, few in number, rounded, circa 0.8 x 0.6mm. The seeds are 1.2-1.7 x 0.8-1.2mm, pale to dark brown, the surface shallowly pitted.
