Description
This species is from the New South Wales tablelands. It is more common in wetter areas, such as some granitic soils with clay subsoils that impede drainage, but also found in drier areas.

Botanical Description
This is an erect, densely tufted, largely hairless grass to 80cm tall. The leaf blades are firm, 2-3.5mm wide, smooth and often dull blue-green. The flowerheads are contracted to open panicles 4-12cm long. The spikelets are 5-8-flowered and green, becoming fluffy at maturity. The lemmas are 3-4mm long (excluding lobes), 2-lobed, 1-awned and golden brown at maturity, with distinct rows of hairs on the back. The lower portion of the awn is brown and tightly twisted. The paleas are broad lanceolate and mostly hairless. It flowers from spring to autumn.
Useful plant
This is a valuable grazing species for sheep and cattle that produces high quality feed, but will become rank if not well grazed, particularly where dominant.

Sowing instructions
AUTUMN Sow the seeds at 4mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix and pouwder with 2mm Smoked Vermiculite (0,012g/cm²) between 59-77°F. During germination keep the substrate moist and in daylight. The seeds germinate in 2-3 weeks.
