Description
This species is from South America, Colombia, Venezuela; from Central America, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico. It occurs in moist upland tropical forests. A plant of low to moderate elevations in the tropics, where it is usually found at elevations from 50-1250m, with reports of specimens up to 1800m. It is found in areas where the mean annual rainfall is within the range 1600-1700mm. It prefers a well-drained soil and is tolerant of shallow, acidic soils.

Botanical Description
Albizia carbonaria is a tree with an open, flattened, spreading crown, usually growing 4-5m tall but sometimes up to 30m tall. The bole can be 60cm in diameter.
Useful plant
The tree is a local source of wood. It is also grown to provide shade in tea and coffee plantations.

Sowing instructions
SPRING Soak the seeds in warm water of 194°F for 2min. Change by ambiant water for 12h. Sow the seeds at 2mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix between 68-77°F. During germination keep the substrate moist and in daylight. The seeds germinate in 1-2 weeks.
