Description
Its name refers to its natural distribution along the Andes mountain range. It is a mainly mountain taxon, although it can be found at low altitude in favor of humid valleys.

It is mainly found in rock crevices, scree and very steep slopes, where the presence of direct light is associated with almost constant humidity. Although it has a wide range, it is a taxon that is uncommon throughout its range.

The twice divided fronds are linear, with very short pinnae and very thick blade. Its very rectilinear appearance should avoid any confusion with other species at least in its natural area.

Although very aesthetic, this plant is not cultivated in Europe. Like many saxicoles, this species may prove to be difficult in cultivation. This should be tested in consistently wet alpine rock gardens under clear conditions.
