Description
This species is from United States, Canada and Mexico. In eastern North America, Goodyera oblongifolia is restricted to formerly glaciated areas. It grows in moist or dry coniferous or mixed woods, in East infrequent in cedar swamps, in southern Rocky Mountains confined to high elevation spruce-fir forests at an elevation of 0-3400m.

Botanical Description
The leaf blade is usually streaked with white only along midrib, sometimes with fine white lateral veins, especially near midrib, narrowly elliptic to ovate, 2.5-10.2 x 1.3-3.5cm, apex acute.

The inflorescences are densely to loosely spiraled or secund, 10-48-flowered. The peduncle is 7-38cm. The lateral sepals are 5.7-7.8mm. The petals are connivent, hood 5-10mm. The lip is deeply concave, boat-shaped, 4.9-7.9 x 1.3-3.2mm, margins upright or involute, apex spreading or slightly recurved, blunt, inner surface with 4 unequal rows of glandular papillae. The anther is erect, base 1/3-1/2 immersed in cup-shaped clinandrium, apex acuminate. The pollinia are acuminate. The rostellar beak is 2-pronged, 2.3-3.6mm, longer than the body of the stigma. The viscidium is elongate.
