Description
It is a widespread but sporadic distribution, occurring on red sand from near Koorda in the wheatbelt of northern Western Australia to the southern part of the Greater Victoria Desert, and in southern Australia extending to the Eyre Peninsula. The origin of its name Eucalyptus ceratocorys comes from the Greek ‘keros’, which means horn and ‘korys’ which means helmet, referring to beaked opercula.

Botanical Description
This Eucalyptus is a mallee or a poorly formed tree, with the lignotuber present. Its bark is rough for up to 3m of trunks of larger plants with gray-brown shaggy, ribbony bark not shedding cleanly. The bark is smooth above and on the smallest branches it is smooth everywhere, gray-cream to gray-brown.
The stems are square in cross section. The juvenile leaves are always petiolate and opposite for a few pairs then alternate, ovate. They measure from 6.5 to 8.5cm long by 4 to 4.5cm wide, the base is tapering to the petiole, greyish green. The adult leaves are alternate, petiolate 1 to 3cm long, the blade is lanceolate, 6 to 15.5cm long and 1.2 to 4.5cm wide, base tapering to the petiole, the margin is entire or shallowly denticulate due to lenticels, concolorous, thick, glossy, green. The reticulation is dense. The intra-marginal vein is parallel to and well removed from the margin.
The inflorescence is unbranched axillary, erect or pendulous, with an apically broadened peduncle measuring 1.3 to 3cm long and composed of 7 to 9 buds per umbel, pedicelled 0.3 to 0.6cm long. The mature buds are obovoid to pyriform, ridged longitudinally. The buds are 1.7 to 3cm long and 0.6 to 1.1cm wide. The scar is present. The operculum is beaked. The stamens are inflexed, the anthers are oblong to broadly wedge-shaped, versatile, dehiscing by lateral slits, the style is long, the stigma is blunt to tapered. 3 or 4 locules present. The flowers are white to creamy and rarely red in September and November.
The fruit is pedicelled from 0.1 to 0.7cm long, cylindrical, slightly apically narrowed or sometimes ‘waisted’, ridged longitudinally from 1.2 to 2cm long and 0.8 to 1.6cm wide, 3 or 4 valves closed. The seeds are gray-brown to gray in color, 2 to 5.5mm long, flattened-pyramidal to cuboid, margin with a narrow encircling wing, the sides are ridged, with a shallowly reticulate dorsal surface, more or less terminal hilum.

Sowing instructions
SPRING Select the largest and most fleshy BROWN seeds. Sow the seeds at 2mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix between 68-77°F. During germination keep the substrate moist and in daylight. The seeds germinate in 3-6 weeks. The viability of the seeds, kept under good conditions, is 10 years.
