Description
The species name of this Asplenium goes back to the Greek 'Dioscorides', whose name means a fern sought by mules and from the Greek 'hemionos' meaning 'mullet'. The taxon is restricted to the Azores, Madeira and some places in Morocco and Extremadura in Portugal. Asplenium hemionitis settles at old walls, rock cracks, rocky soils in shady, damp and low-lying sites. It is a rare species in cultivation that requires heat, a shady and humid place, free from frost and in limestone soil.
Experiences
Seedlings of spores from nature which gave some subjects, the growth is rather slow but we should start to have beautiful feet this year.

Botanical Description
It is a fern in bushes that are generally quite thinly forested, with leaves 10 to 30cm long, the leaf stalk almost the same as the limb. The green leaves are webbed, formed of 3 to 5 lobes, depending on the humidity on the site. The central lobe is always the longest. The sori (cluster containing the spores) are typical of Aspleniums, narrow, elongated and lined with a unilateral indusium.
