Description
This is an endemic subspecies of the island of La Palma with two known populations so far. One of them is located to the northeast of the island (Marcos y Corderos springs and surroundings) and the other to the east (Mazo). The populations are located in monteverde environments, the species being restricted to areas along trail edges, roads and small valleys, with loose and slightly disturbed soils. The most frequent accompanying species are: Persea indica, Laurus novocanariensis, Myrica faya, Erica arborea, Teline stenopetala, Geranium canariensis, Bystropogon origanifolius, Cedronella canariensis, Ilex canariensis, Pericallis papyraceus and Sonchus palmensis, among others.
Botanical Description
This is a very branched shrub at the base, with decumbent stems. It is a glabrous plant.
The leaves are pinnatisect, oblanceolate-subobovate, with ovate-elliptic, denticulate, opposite or subopposite lobes. It has persistent lower leaves.
The inflorescence is corymbiform, 20-50 capitula. The ligules are short, white, bifid, obtuse. The cypselas are with membranous wings.
